CASP Welcomes Brian McCann to Board of Directors

The Council of Autism Service Providers (CASP) is pleased to announce the appointment of Brian McCann to its Board of Directors.

“I am thrilled about Brian joining the CASP Board of Directors,” said Emily Callahan, CASP Executive Director. “Brian brings a wealth of expertise in special education law, public policy, business, and non-profit management. His experiences and skills are a tremendous asset to the Board, and will help CASP further our mission of supporting autism service providers by cultivating, sharing, and advocating for best practices in autism services.”

Brian has been the President and CEO of the Faison Center since December 2015. Prior to joining the team at The Faison Center, Brian was an attorney who devoted his law practice to civil litigation with an emphasis in education law to help families of children with disabilities. During his legal career, Brian was recognized in Virginia Super Lawyers in 2013, 2014 and 2015. Brian was also a member of The National Trial Lawyers Top 100 Trial Lawyers in the Commonwealth of Virginia. In 2013 Brian was recognized as a Top 40 Under 40 in the city of Richmond for his work in Special Education Law.

During his time in practice, Brian saw the difficulties that families faced navigating the legal issues related to education for their children. “Sadly, for families with children and adults with autism and other related challenges, navigating the world of appropriate services is equally as frustrating and confusing. Families can easily be misled about the type and quality of services they receive,” says Brian.

“CASP is essential for creating a network of providers that are dedicated to providing top-quality, evidence-based, effective treatments and services. Families deserve to have confidence in those providing services to them and their loved ones. Membership in CASP provides that assurance. I am excited and honored to join the Board as we continue to grow and expand our membership and create a gold-standard for best practices nationally.”

Born and raised in Richmond, Virginia, Brian earned his Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the College of William & Mary and graduated from the William & Mary School of Law, where he was a member of Order of the Coif, Law Review, and Moot Court.
