Mandated reporters are individuals who are legally required to report known or suspected abuse and neglect of vulnerable populations to state and/or local authorities. Laws surrounding mandated reporting vary from state-to-state so please ensure your familiarity with your state's laws regarding individuals who are required to report known or suspected abuse and neglect.

The Department of Children, Youth & Families (DCYF) maintains records of founded findings of child abuse and neglect. This information is limited to substantiated findings, does not include investigations determined as inconclusive or unfounded, and requires the subject individual’s authorization to release this information.

Check requests can be submitted online through the CAN History Check Portal (Background Check Portal). Results will be sent to the requesting individual or entity by email but can also be accessed by logging directly into the portal.
